We are the vidding community and we are tired of having our hard-earned video clips ripped off only to have the thieves claim ignorance. We want to have a place where all vidders, experienced and novice, can come to find information and tips on the video theft problem as well as a place to educate the new vidder with information and resources so they won't feel the need to just "take" from others.

Please remember that direct-linking (hot-linking) to someone's video is stealing their bandwidth. Please link to the site itself or even the page the video is on but DO NOT direct-link.

A Word of Caution

Most of us in the vidding community probably know by now what it is like being burned by someone who has taken something from us without permission whether it be clips or bandwidth. It's not fun at all, it causes pain and a lot of anger but we need to take a step back and train ourselves to get all the facts before we pounce on the next offender. Because there has been so much of it lately, many of us are very sensitive to any wrongs that may have been done. Please, let's get all the facts and try to resolve the problem calmly and quietly before gathering up the troops and going for the jugular. Let's give the offender a chance to rectify the mistake and make sure we know exactly what it is they have done and why. Sometimes it can truly just be an honest mistake and if they are apologetic and remedy the problem then I don't see why any further action is necessary. If after several attempts to contact the offender and they refuse to comply, then you can spread the word and gather up the lynch mob but let's at least make sure it is needed first. Let's not bombard someone for making an honest mistake.
